A catchy teen pop song about the Backstreet Boys returning to the music scene.

“Everybody (Backstreet’s Back)” is a song by American boy band Backstreet Boys. It was released as the lead single from their second international studio album Backstreet’s Back in June 1997, and the third single from their self-titled debut US studio album on March 9, 1998, although the song was already being played by many American radio stations unofficially by importing the Canadian single. The accompanying music video was directed by American director Joseph Kahn.

“Everybody (Backstreet’s Back)” received positive reviews from music critics. Stephen Thomas Erlewine of AllMusic called the song “a polished, radio-friendly pop song that’s sure to please fans of the group.” Robert Christgau of The Village Voice called the song “a catchy, infectious pop song that’s sure to be a hit.”

“Everybody (Backstreet’s Back)” was a commercial success, reaching number four on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in the United States. The song also reached number one in Canada, the United Kingdom, and Australia. The song was certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) for sales of over one million copies in the United States.

The song was originally written for the Spice Girls, but they turned it down.. And the dance routine featured in the music video was inspired by Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” music video.
